Require rental companies to provide clearer, more standardised information about their rental. For example, some companies say free tank of fuel but require car to be returned full, whereas some don't - and it's not always clear

I actually don't think so? .... I arrived in Auckland with a last minute unforseen travel problem... Within 3 hours I was sorted by transfercar and got to my destinations very smoothly and comfortably. Brilliant service easy online process!

Excess limits were a little bit different in Apex than stated on website when ordered, but i insuered so did not matter in the end.

Dependant on the company the 1 day free depend on if you go past midnight and it would be good if this was specified before. I turned up expecting to pay for 1 days insurance however as it passed midnight with the 24hour deal I was expected to pay for 2 days. I was able to negotiate this but it would be nice if this process was a little more transparent
